Before Pregnancy, During and Forever After, Ways To Wear

How to wear: with BLANQI girl Irina Bond

We love seeing all the different ways our BLANQI girls wear their tanks!  We can’t get enough of beautiful Irina Bond of Bond Girl Glam, who does an amazing job styling her BLANQI high performance maternity belly support tank.  It’s the perfect example of how to wear your tank to a more formal occasion!  Unlike other bulky support pieces, our seamless, smooth support tank is designed so that you can wear it out with confidence, not feeling as though you have to cover it up.  Irina wears hers proudly, pairing it with a delicate tweed blazer for a feminine flair.

She pairs her tank and blazer with a long statement necklace that draws the eye to her beautiful baby bump.

Life lessons according to Iris Apfel and my 7 year-old daughter

If you’ve been reading any fashion publications as of late, I am sure you are well acquinted with the new documentary IRIS, a film by Albert Maysles, which spotlights the 93 year-old fashion icon.  According to Magnolia Pictures, the studio behind the film, it is “More than a fashion film, the documentary is a story about creativity and how a soaring free spirit continues to inspire. IRIS portrays a singular woman whose enthusiasm for fashion, art and people are life’s sustenance and reminds us that dressing, and indeed life, is nothing but an experiment.” ( – See more at: http://www.magpictures.com/iris/#sthash.QKTqwILI.dpuf )

I have come to the conclusion that Iris and my 7 year-old daughter Sienna have many things in common, and can teach us all some much valuable lessons:

Live out loud – don’t be afraid of color

Iris:  “Life is grey and dull.  You may as well have a little fun when you dress and amuse people.” Iris

Sienna:  “You need color in your life mama. Color makes you happy.  Stop buying black.”

March to the beat of your own drum

Iris:  “ I like to improvise. I always think I like to do things as though I’m playing jazz – try this, try that.”  Iris

Sienna:  “I like to freestyle mama…check out my crazy moves.”  Sienna, in the parking lot, breaking it down, wildly flailing her arms around.

Overdo it – be eccentric

Iris:  “More is more and less is a bore.” – refinery 29

Sienna:  “The sparklier, the better!” Sienna, in her oversized glitter headband, glitter hair clip and glitter purse.

Embrace individuality

Iris:  “What’s my style is not your style, and I don’t see how you can define it. It’s something that expresses who you are in your own way.” – via  One Kings Lane

Sienna:  “Stop picking out clothes that YOU like – pick clothes that I like,”  pointing at the bejeweled rainbow tie-dye fringe dress.

Happiness is everything

Iris:  “I would advise you to be happy rather than well-dressed. It’s better to be happy.”  via Bustle.com

Sienna:  “This is the best outfit ever!”  in her leopard tights, frozen tee, leopard cardigan and leopard sneakers ( rainbow hued )

BLANQI Baby Bumps

Valerie’s top 5 reasons why you need a maternity BLANQI in your life

There comes a point in every pregnancy where you feel so over it. When you feel huge, swollen, cranky, hot, tired and so ready to meet your new little bambino. Maybe it hits you at week 13 when you can’t button your pants, or week 41 when you’re 5 days overdue, or week 34 when you can no longer bend over to put your shoes on, or week 9 when you’ve been throwing up non-stop for days. You may not be thinking “I need to buy a BLANQI’, as perhaps you do not even know maternity and postpartum supportwear exists, but as being in the midst of my 4th pregnancy, here are my top 5 reasons why you need to pre-plan and buy a BLANQI.

IMG_3610

1. Your belly pops sometime in the 1st -2nd trimester and than suddenly nothing fits…usually the exact moment you’re running late for an important work meeting or a last-minute dinner date with friends. Always. Prepare for this moment with a BLANQI on hand and save yourself some tears.

2. You may think you’re huge, and then a couple of weeks will go by, and you’ll think “what was I thinking?!? I’m so very huge now!!” You will think your belly is big and then it gets even bigger..heavier..with aches and pains. Do not underestimate the delusions your mind can make during pregnancy…even after the 2nd, 3rd and 4th baby. (I am guilty of this on a daily basis.)

3. You want to “look pregnant” and not just like you ate too much chips and dip the night before. This sounds superficial, I get it, but it’s true. Early on I want to wear a sign that says “I am pregnant, not fat”, but that is just strange and weird, so I don’t. However, I wear a BLANQI which smooths out my sides, back and hips, which makes my belly look more like a babybump than a burrito bump. (clearly I have a mexican craving today)

4. Time as you know it becomes irrelevant during pregnancy. One minute time seems to fly by so fast that you’re panicking you’re going to get the crib up and hospital bag packed in time, the next minute you’re on the couch devouring a gallon of ice cream crying  that this is never going to end. Sabina and I say it alllll the time, “9 months is too short for a babybump only wardrobe, but way too long to be uncomfortable.”

5. You deserve it. If you’re like us and have a hard time purchasing for yourself, think of it as you’re buying for baby. A less stressed mama makes for a healthy pregnancy. You are growing a life!! A real-life living human who could potentially cure cancer, will learn to speak , become an individual with opinions and ideas, and change the world for the better. Who at only 6 weeks from arriving into your womb had a tiny heart the size of a lentil that beat 150 times per minute, who at 12 weeks has its own set of unique fingerprints, then fast forward that after only 40 weeks, you have a full-sized baby capable of loving you forever as it’s mama. It’s amazing, mind-blowing and emotionally incomprehensible until you’ve experienced it. Why not make it just that much easier on yourself?

Grace of Camp Patton || Due this JUNE with baby #5 , she’s witty and all together lovely.

“One of thee only reasons I stay on top of the laundry these days is to keep one of these [BLANQI Bodystyler Belly Support Tanktops] clean at all times because I’ve become sadly dependent on it. If I go hours without wearing it and then I put it on it’s like that feeling you get after standing all day and then finally sitting, if that makes sense.”

“BLANQI leggings have been my go-to. The best part about BLANQI leggings is their pieces can be dressed up or down, and give a great amount of supper to your growing bump. They’re not too thick and not too thin, so I feel like my lumps are covered, but I’m not overheating. “
